Zurich Opera House

Tradition and passion

Zurich Opera House is one of the world's most renowned music theaters. It demonstrates an impressive range and innovative strength with around 300 opera, ballet and concert performances, ranging from the baroque period to the latest productions. Zurich supports the passionate interplay between the disciplines and advocates new performance formats that are open to a wide-ranging and young audience.

Opera for All

With "Opera for All", Zurich has set itself the clear objective of making opera music accessible to a wide audience. For that reason Zurich Insurance, in conjunction with Zurich Opera House, has been issuing  invitations to a free open-air opera performance since the summer of 2014. Last year 12,000 opera fans and would-be opera buffs followed “Pique Dame” by Pyotr Tchaikovsky live on the Sechseläutenplatz in Zurich.
The next "Opera for All" is scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2017. You can look forward to the live transmission of “Un Ballo in Maschera” by Giuseppe Verdi – and a unique evening of opera in the open air. Entry is free.

Children's opera

To instill enthusiasm for opera at a young age, Zurich is supporting the children's production of "The Wizard of Oz". Accompany farm girl Dorothy and her companions on their exciting journey, which demands lots of courage, heart and intelligence. The performance is suitable for children aged six and over.
