Since 2014, Zurich has been bringing opera to a wider audience with its “Opera for All” program, inviting members of the public to watch performances by the Opernhaus Zürich for free at open-air events at the Sechseläutenplatz. This sees a live broadcast from the opera house projected on a large screen, and has now become a mainstay of Zurich’s cultural scene.

Following six successful years of “Opera for All,” which drew more than 10,000 visitors each year, this summer the event will for the first time unfortunately not take place.

Accordeon Title

CORALINE - Family opera in two acts for children from 8 years.

The family opera by the British composer Mark-Anthony Turnage (*1960) is based on the story of the same name by Neil Gaiman, which has already been very successfully filmed.

It tells the story of a courageous girl whose unusual name shows that not everything is always as it seems. Coraline's fantastic and sinister experiences are reminiscent of literary classics such as Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland or E.T.A. Hoffmann's The Sandman, yet they tell a very modern coming-of-age story.
