Since 2014, Zurich has been bringing opera to a wider audience with its “Opera for All” program, inviting members of the public to watch performances by the Opernhaus Zürich for free at open-air events at the Sechseläutenplatz. This sees a live broadcast from the opera house projected on a large screen, and has now become a mainstay of Zurich’s cultural scene.

Following six successful years of “Opera for All,” which drew more than 10,000 visitors each year, this summer the event will for the first time unfortunately not take place.

Alice in Wonderland - fairytale opera for children from 7 years of age.

Lewis Carroll's children's book classic has fascinated and challenged many generations of theatre and film professionals to the most diverse interpretations. The Italian composer Pierangelo Valtinoni, who has already composed The Wizard of Oz for Zurich Opera House, is also fascinated by the story full of nonsense and is writing this new family opera.

It tells the story of Alice, who dreams herself into Wonderland and experiences unimaginable, extremely strange things there.
