Conflicts of interest can arise if there are monetary or non-monetary incentives for the insurance intermediary when brokering certain insurance products to customers. Such incentives may include, for example, volume-based compensation, performance-based commissions, sales promotion measures or bonuses. Guidelines, directives and controls are in place in connection with the organisation of such incentives in order to prevent the interests of policyholders from being compromised in bad faith by incentive or remuneration practices.
