Commercial Employee EFZ, Private Insurance

You will acquire in-depth insurance knowledge, get to know different business areas, constantly develop and discover which topics you are passionate about. You also have the freedom to choose placements during your three-year apprenticeship that best align with your interests.

EFZ-certified personal line commercial clerk – vocational diploma focus

This program combines the benefits of a high school and a commercial insurance apprenticeship: In your first year, you will attend vocational college full time, and in the following two years, your focus will shift to practical work at Zurich. We support your apprenticeship from day one, and you benefit from the same conditions as all other apprentices.

The four-year athlete's apprenticeship allows you to pursue your passion for elite sport while gaining a solid foundation of professional knowledge and skills. We collaborate with the United School of Sports and Sport Academy Zurich. If you are interested, you can apply directly there.

During your three-year apprenticeship, you will become a customer communications professional and represent the Zurich brand to our customers. We provide you with solid insurance knowledge, and you will get to know the various business areas.

EFZ-certified IT specialist – application development

You start with a basic training year in the Vocational Training Center (Bbc) in Zurich and learn the fundamentals of your work. In the following three years of your apprenticeship, you will gain practical experience working at Zurich. You will expand your skills and knowledge in the front and back end, and use modern and agile working methods. You will have a say in choosing which area you focus on in the final year of your apprenticeship.

Here you can find out key information first hand and ask the apprentices your questions. In addition, you will learn about what is important to us, which will help you during the application process.

At the headquarters in Zurich, we offer central information events instead of individual trial apprenticeships. You can complete a trial commercial insurance apprenticeship on location at one of our general agencies. For this purpose, go straight to a general agency in your vicinity.

Your application at Zurich: Step by step to success

Find out all you need to know about our application process and receive valuable tips and tricks for submitting a successful application to Zurich Switzerland.

Step 1: Your online application

Here you will find our apprenticeship openings. In just a few clicks, you can apply online and upload your resume and supporting documents. 

Step 2: Your application review

We will review your application as quickly as possible. If you have piqued our interest, you will receive an email with an invitation to an online interview. Make sure to regularly check your emails. 

Step 3: Your recruitment day

Congratulations! You impressed us and now receive an invitation to a recruitment day or trial day in person. This is our opportunity to get to know you better. You will also meet other Zurich apprentices here. 

Step 4: Decision and onboarding

We will communicate our decision to you by telephone. If you are successful, you will receive written confirmation. 

If you accept, we look forward to welcoming you to Zurich on August 1 or in Ticino on September 1.

A personalized onboarding program will support you in the run-up to your first day at work.

You can find all our apprenticeship openings at gateway.org. As long as the advertisement is online, the application phase is still open and you still have time to apply.

Application documents

Upload your application documents such as your resume and any supporting documents. You do not need to write a cover letter.


Refine your resume

Make sure your resume is clearly structured and easy to read. Emphasize who you are and why you are a good fit for Zurich Switzerland.

Prepare yourself for the first interview

Inform yourself about Zurich Switzerland and the apprenticeship you are applying for. Prepare any questions that you would like to ask.
