Zurich and the Opera House: We bring cultural events to the people

Around the globe, Zurich Opera House is renowned for its top-class opera and ballet productions. Every year, it stages around 300 opera and ballet performances as well as concerts. The bandwidth and innovative drive is impressive – from Baroque classics to modern productions. Since 2014, Zurich has been making an effort to open up opera to a wide audience. We sponsor the Opera House for this reason. Every summer, we attract a large, mixed audience with spectacular open-air "opera for all" or "ballet for all" performances. By means of the children's opera, we enable our little culture enthusiasts to experience a unique event they will always remember.

Since 2014, Zurich Switzerland has been the main sponsor of the open-air event "opera for all" and "ballet for all." The event takes place each summer – with an opera or ballet performance. Together with the Opera House, Zurich Switzerland invites everybody to Sechseläutenplatz in Zurich: There, a performance is streamed live from the Opera House onto a large screen. The event is a regular element of Zurich's cultural agenda, which regularly attracts about 10,000 people. On Saturday, June 15, 2024, the «opera for all» program is going to feature a live broadcast of George Bizet's masterpiece, Carmen.

Children's opera​

Since 2014, Zurich has been the exclusive sponsor of the children's opera in Zurich Opera House. This program was established especially for little opera enthusiasts. Nevertheless, the elaborate, radiant productions and first-class artists also mesmerize adults. This season, the program features «Jim Knopf and Lukas the Engine Driver.» The Swiss premiere took place on November 19, 2023.
