Lucerne Festival: Classical music for all

Since the 1990s, Zurich has collaborated with Lucerne Festival, an internationally leading festival of classical music, with the aim of making classical music accessible to a broad audience. Since 2005, Zurich has been the main sponsor of the Summer Festival and as of 2023, it is the exclusive "Climate Partner" of Lucerne Festival.

For more than 30 years, Zurich and Lucerne Festival have enjoyed a close partnership. In the meantime, the festival has become one of the world's most important classical music events and now ranks among the "Top Events of Switzerland".

We are convinced that, as a source of inspiration, culture will continue to have a lasting positive impact on society. This attitude underlies Zurich's desire to promote outstanding artists and make classical and contemporary music accessible to a broad audience.

«40min-Events» and «40min Open Air»

Since 2013, star soloists, academicians, ensembles and orchestras have given performances during the early evening as part of the Summer Festival's free series "40min". These performances provide insights into the festival program accompanied by presentations and discussions.

After its premiere in 2023, the format "40min Open Air" was once again a success this year with three 40-minute concerts on the Europaplatz. For all who were in front of the KKL Luzern, planned or by chance.
