We are delighted to be teaming up with Lucerne Festival again to stage the «40min Open Air» on Europaplatz for the third time. The program comprises three entertaining 40min performances: At 2 p.m. the Rosamund Brass Quartet will start with "Brass Spectacular in Memory of Philip Jones," followed at 3 p.m. by the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra with "Symphonic Jukebox" – 55 musicians playing songs requested by the audience – and finally, at 4 p.m., the Mathias Landtwing Quartett will perform "Without Limits." Musical delights await all those who find themselves in front of the KKL, whether by choice or by chance. Admission is free.
No musical knowledge or dress code required. Since 2013, the early evening hours have been reserved for performances by outstanding soloists, academy artists, ensembles, and orchestras, who offer a glimpse into the festival program, accompanied by moments of dialogue and sharing. The short concerts begin at 6:20 p.m. and last 40 minutes. Free tickets are available online five days before each event.
Zurich is the main partner of Lucerne Festival Ark Nova, the world's first inflatable concert hall. "Music Is Hope": this is the motto under which festival director Michael Haefliger, star architect Arata Isozaki, artist Sir Anish Kapoor and concert promoter Masahide Kajimoto created Ark Nova after the earthquake disaster in Fukushima. It opened in Japan in 2013 and will now spend 11 days on the Lido meadow in Lucerne. Tickets are available from CHF 15, children up to 6 years old get in free. Enjoy a variety of musical delights in a special atmosphere.
